After a peaceful night of uninterrupted sleep, the Kauffmans were ready for more exploring. The day began with touring historical Venice sights. Along the way, we visited several markets and Marco Polo’s house. If I’m being totally honest, I’m not a big fan of guided tours. However, I’m grateful we decided to join one because we would’ve had no clue what we were admiring! Our time in Venice wouldn’t have been complete without a gondola ride and a visit to the historic Cafe Florian.
Once the tour was complete, we stopped in an art gallery and several cute shops. Late lunch consisted of cheesy pizza and sweet wine. I was particularly excited to visit Venice’s famous underwater library, Alta Acqua Liberia. As a book lover, I must say it was a dream. I could’ve spent days flipping the pages and feeling the covers of the used books! Around 4:00, we realized it was time for our daily trip to the gelato stand. The rest of the evening was spent wandering the streets (by wandering, I mean getting lost for another several hours, which we allowed time for). We turned in early for the night and fell asleep to the soft sounds of an accordion playing a tune down the street.
